Pilot Testing

Once the storyboard was up, members of the design team from TDH contacted physicians and statisticians to review the information posted.

The Sample-

  • First, we had people who attended one of our first meetings via phone conferencing hookup:
    • Dr. Harry Rosenberg, National Center for Health Statistics (Atlanta, GA)
    • Dr. Donna Hoyert, National Center for Health Statistics (Atlanta, GA)
    • Dr. Harry Wilson, Pediatric Pathologist (El Paso, TX)
    • Dr. Priscilla Short, American Medical Association (Chicago, IL)

  • These people, along with the following, also reviewed our web pages as they went up and gave us feedback:
    • Dr. Erik Svenkerud, Texas Department of Health (Austin, TX)
    • Jola Edwards, Bureau of Vital Statistics Field Representative (Austin, TX)
    • Dr. Philip Huang, Texas Department of Health (Austin, TX)

  • Dr. Kate Hendricks contacted several epidimiologists during a conference she attended who will be evaluating the site, including physicians from:
    • Pan American Health Organization.
    • The Australian Medical Association

  • Mark Gregg contacted the author of two of our main references, who said that he would like to evaluate that site:
    • Dr. Randy Hanzlick, Center for Disease Control

Tryout Procedures and Setting-

  • The Death Certificate CME is an online project, so all information delivery and communication has been online:
    • As test items were developed, they were accessible through the index that Lynda created. We also have a sample of a final test up that requires a password for access. Write to Laurie Williams for the URL and password to access this quiz.

Data Aquisition -

  • Information was collected primarily online via email
  • Faxes were sent and received
  • Phone calls were received
  • SME's interviewed local participants
